Can I wear my Darth Vader costume into the theatre?
We love seeing our guests dress up as favorite characters of popular movies and welcome the excitement it brings to the theatre. However we do have some restrictions when it comes to costumes.
Masks, decoration or make-up that obscure the face are not allowed on a guests over the age of 12.
Costumes or clothing that could reasonably make others feel uncomfortable are not allowed.
Weapons, authentic or not, are not allowed.
If you have further questions as to what is allowed or not, we encourage you to call the theatre directly.
I already bought tickets to a movie, but now I can’t go. Can I still get my money back?
Yes! We understand that plans change so we are happy to either switch your tickets to a date that works for you or refund your money up to a half hour into the show time.. Give the theatre a call and we can take care of this within a few minutes. If you bought your tickets online, through our mobile app, or over the phone, the convenience fee is nonrefundable.
Why aren’t show times posted for the upcoming weekend?
Because new movies are released every weekend, our schedule works differently than other businesses. We post the updated movie schedule to our website and app on Tuesday afternoons for the upcoming Thursday through Wednesday.
Why are you charging me a fee for online ticket purchases?
The convenience fee contributes to the cost of the software and labor required to process payments on our website. Many guests have been requesting and enjoying the convenience of purchasing their tickets in advance and online and don’t mind paying the minimal fee to do so. Advantages to buying tickets online are knowing ahead whether there are seats available and what seats are available and then securing them! Other benefits include, not having to arrive early in order to get a good seat, and being able to bypass the box office line and going straight to the usher to have your tickets scanned. For guests who do not want to pay a convenience fee, they still have the option of purchasing tickets and reserving their seats in advance or the day of the movie by stopping in at the theatre box office to purchase tickets.
I’d like to bring a large group to the movies, can I get a discount?
We love hosting groups for movies and offer discounts on tickets and concession prices for groups of 15 people or more. Do you have captioning for those who are deaf or hard of hearing?
Yes, we have Captiview closed captioning devices available for guests upon request. Simply ask for the device when purchasing a ticket. We also offer Descriptive Video Services available for those who are blind or have limited vision.
Why isn’t a certain movie playing at my theater?
It is a misconception that theatres are the primary decision makers when it comes to when and where a movie plays. Even though guests may see trailers on TV or in the movie theater, it doesn’t always mean that the movie will play in their city. A good determiner on whether a movie plays locally is whether it is a wide or a Limited Release movie.
A wide release is a movie with a very large marketing budget, so the film distributor releases prints to virtually all theatres across the nation. Limited release movies have very small budgets and so they first open the movies in large cities (Chicago, LA, Boston, etc.) with the hopes that they will get strong attendance and good word-of-mouth promotion so that they movies can then expand into smaller regions. Grand Rapids and Lansing are considered medium size cities, so that is why those theatres will get Limited Release movies before our other theatres. Now if they movie does well there, it will then expand into the ‘small’ cities such as Muskegon, Benton Harbor, Portage, and Mount Pleasant. Even after it expands, sometimes the distributors will only allow one print in a region, so if a competing theatre has the movie, they won’t allow us one.
Why are tickets, food and beverages so expensive?
We know going to the movies is not an inexpensive form of entertainment, but we hope we deliver a movie experience that is well worth the expense. Our ultimate goal is to provide an unparalleled entertainment experience – one you won’t be able to get at another theatre, or at a home theatre. We have to give a very large percentage of the movie ticket price to the film distributor for being able to show the movie. So it is from concession sales that we pay to run a clean and safe building with state of the art technology, pay employees, purchase goods, make repairs, and provide a space where stories and wonderful experiences take place.
How long will a movie play?
We wish I could give you a time frame for how long movie will play in our theatres, but I’m afraid I cannot. We always know when a movie will premiere, but when the movie moves off our screens is never clear. There are number of factors that go into how long a movie plays at our theatres. The biggest factor is the amount of attendance that movie is getting, but it’s also determined by what new movies being released (and the projected attendance of those movies), film contracts with movie distributors (some will require that we play a certain amount of time), and so on. We encourage you to check the website or C! App frequently to see if a movie is still available.
Can I bring my backpack or duffel bag into the theatre?
We ask guests to store their backpacks, shopping bags or any bag (other than a typical size purse) in their vehicle and not bring it into our theatres. We can also hold bags in a secure location if storing them in a vehicle is impossible. Backpacks, duffel bags and other bags can make guests feel uneasy in this day and age. We have worked extensively with local public safety officials, safety trainers and specialists, to design a policy that will help us get better at keeping our customers safe and comfortable. We also reserve the right to search any bag, including purses.
I have a concealed weapon/open carry permit, will I be permitted to carry a firearm in your theatre?
Open carry and/or concealed firearms are not allowed on our private property (in accordance with Michigan Law MCL 750.552) unless a guest is a certified law enforcement officer, able to provide valid police identification and badge. All others must secure their weapon in their vehicle.
